What “without changing the background” really means

When text is flattened into a photo, the original covered pixels are no longer available. A cleanup system infers new pixels that should look consistent with the visible area around the words.

A good result preserves the scene outside the edit and makes the new region believable. It should not blur the entire image, replace unrelated objects or crop away content just to hide the text.

Straight architecture, repeating tiles, faces, fingers, hair and printed fabric reveal small errors quickly. Large letters that cross several materials are also harder than a short caption over sky.
